Brett Howard Nelson is a native of Seattle, Washington. He has a creative and diverse background in photography, graphic design, and creative writing. His inspiration as a graphic designer and photographer comes from Alexey Brodovitch and Herbert Matter—proving that with graphic design and photography, one can have the best of both worlds.
He also finds botanical inspiration from fine art photographer, Imogen Cunningham. Because of his creative style and the use of graphic design elements in his photography, Brett identifies himself as a Graphic Design Photographer.
In 2009, he received The Academy of Art University Portfolio Grant Scholarship Award for the submission of eight fine art photographs, allowing him to pursue a degree in graphic design. In May 2012, Brett graduated from the Academy of Art University of San Francisco and currently resides in the Seattle area.
His fine art photography is available for purchase for personal and business collections, and but not for gallery exhibitions.
For creative preferences, Brett uses Adobe Lightroom and a digital Leica camera.
